Farmers’ capacity building is a core thematic area of MVIWAARUSHA’s operations, focusing on strengthening the knowledge, skills, and organizational abilities of smallholder farmers to sustainably improve agricultural production and livelihoods. The organization provides practical training on agroecological and climate-resilient farming practices, soil and water conservation, seed saving, post-harvest handling, and farm management, using participatory and farmer-centered approaches such as demonstration plots and farmer field schools.
MVIWAARUSHA also builds farmers’ capacities in leadership, collective action, entrepreneurship, and engagement with markets and institutions to enhance their bargaining power and decision-making. By empowering farmers with technical, economic, and social skills, MVIWAARUSHA supports resilient farming systems and strengthens the overall effectiveness of its agricultural and community development interventions.
